Mission Youth missionaries know that when we are on a mission, we represent so much more than just ourselves. We are representing the Catholic Church, Mission Youth, and also Jesus. We seek to be His hands and His feet, His eyes and His voice for the people we serve. We want our dress, our expressions, and our behavior to be a reflection of Him and His Gospel. We want to be recognizable as missionaries and dressed for whatever the mission could ask of us.
This is the most recognizable part of the missionary and reminds all those around us that we are bringing God with us and that we are not afraid!
Worn across our neck, it is a sign of our acceptance and commissioning as a missionary.
